With folded hands, pray the following prayer aloud, seated next to the child. Dear God, because you love us, you created the earth. Earth is our home. You also created the birds in the air, the fish in the sea, and all the animals, plants, and people on earth. Help us always see how beautiful our world is and help us care for it. Pray the Sign of the Cross again.%u25b6 Point out objects in the room and discuss who may have made or created them, such as the chairs are made in a factory and the flowers in the vase were made by God. Say: Now it%u2019s our turn to make something. We are going to make pictures. Work with the child to draw and color pictures of things in nature the child likes or find pictures in magazines of the things you discussed with the child%u2019s parents. %u25b6 Talk about each item and label each picture. 2 Connect %u25b6 Show the child an image from the Picture Glossary that represents God the Father. %u25b6 Say: God is the Creator of everything. God creates the earth, sky, and seas. God creates animals and trees and flowers. God even creates us. Let%u2019s look at some pictures of things that God creates.%u25b6 Show the child Picture Cards 1%u201312.picture and read the word on the back of the card. If  Talk about each possible, open a window and point out the clouds, feel a breeze, and listen to any nature sounds, such as a bird chirping or a dog barking. %u25b6 On six separate note cards, write one of the following words: people, plants, animals, weather, landforms, and water. When you complete the lesson, be sure to record the date and any notes on the child%u2019s Lesson Checklist (see pages 475%u2013477). Then move on to Session 2. Plan Ahead%u25b6 Put the note cards next to one another to serve as headings for a picture graph. Then work together to sort the Picture Cards into these categories. Before placing pictures, ask the child to choose if a picture belongs below one heading or another. After placing each picture, ask: Who made this? Encourage the child to respond either verbally or by pointing to the image of God in the Picture Glossary.%u25b6 Say: God creates all these things. He creates these things because he loves us. God wants us to enjoy and take care of all the things he creates. %u25b6 Talk about ways that you can show care for each thing God creates. 3 Close %u25b6 Say: Now let%u2019s add your favorite things to these groups. Invite the child to add the pictures from Step 1 to the appropriate categories based on your conversation about the Picture Cards. Ask: Who created these? Encourage the child to say or indicate God.%u25b6 To close the lesson, pray the Sign of the Cross. With folded hands, pray the following prayer aloud, seated next to the child: Thank you, God, for all that you have made for us.
